Hajnal Szolga

Artist

  • The multiple exposure photographs are united by their goal of evoking conflicting thoughts and emotions in the viewer through visual narratives. The idyllic moment is overshadowed by the threat, the noose tightens around the protagonists, a mystical veil covers the glowing landscape. The ambivalent aesthetic references awaken an inner conflict in the viewer, simultaneously evoking the familiar and bringing the unconscious to the surface. In addition to the themes, the familiar-unusual analogy is also reflected in the artist's technical execution. While the narrative concept and classic photo development are a conscious process, experimental procedures are unrepeatable, random processes. Bleaching, photogrammetry, scratching and masking heighten the dramatic effects as they bring the surface to life: light creatures and ghosts appear.
